According to Associate Professor. Dr. Vu Duy Hai, Deputy Head of Admissions Department, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, many majors do not follow hot trends but still have great job demand.

Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Duy Hai said that through the practice of admission consulting and career guidance, candidates are currently paying much attention to majors related to priority fields in the 4th industrial revolution such as Technology. information technology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Automation... because in recent years, the whole world has mentioned this content.

However, some traditional majors, the core of the industry, or that Vietnam has strengths and a large demand for labor resources, but candidates are less interested in, such as the Materials, Mechanics, and Manufacturing majors. Machinery, Textiles, Environment, Chemistry, Refrigeration... The reason is that these industries are less mentioned in the media, candidates think that this is not a field that belongs to the top "Hi-Tech".

In fact, traditional fields will be indispensable in the industry, no matter what stage of development. Therefore, the need for human resources, especially high quality human resources for these industries is very large. Besides, the fields of study that Vietnam is strong in such as Garment, Footwear, Agricultural Product Preservation... will always need a good labor source with attractive salaries. The statistics of Hanoi University of Science and Technology on the employment and income of alumni of these majors also speak for themselves.

Associate Professor Vu Duy Hai affirmed that current candidates are very proactive in choosing majors according to their interests. However, many candidates have not really learned thoroughly about traditional majors and professions in which Vietnam is strong. Candidates have not researched carefully in choosing the field of study that best suits their strengths and interests so that after graduation they will have an advantage in finding jobs with attractive salaries.

Therefore, Associate Professor Vu Duy Hai advises that in addition to their interests or passion for the field they intend to study, candidates should take the time to learn more, consult with relatives or career counselors. to choose the major that best suits one's own abilities and family's conditions so that one can then maximize one's strengths in a university environment; create many competitive advantages after graduation. Candidates should avoid choosing a major according to trends or following the majority, thereby losing their own strengths.

Previously, Hanoi University of Science and Technology said that on April 9, candidates can take the 2023 practice test at home online. The registration portal for the Thinking Assessment exam will be open from March 30 to April 30.
